It Hasn’t Hit Me Yet
1 April 2008 by gildedbutterfly
Thank you to everyone who’s offering congratulations on finishing the credit card debt. As odd as it sounds, I feel kind of indifferent to the whole thing. There are a couple of reasons for this, namely, that the payment I put through yesterday online hasn’t posted yet, so when I log on it still says there’s a balance. It should post sometime today, which will help to get my excitement up.
I think, though, that it won’t really hit me in that giddy, newly free way until the second half of April, when I look at my savings account and realize that I am able to save TEN TIMES what I have been saving each month because of the increase in my disposable income. That doesn’t include the extra 401(k) contributions I’ll be making. Wow!
Anyway, thanks for all your congratulations! Just because I’m a little indifferent now doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate them. ![]()
Your post resonated with me. While I never had credit card debt in any real way I did have student loans. I remember that when I paid them off it was very anticlimactic. There was just a zero on the line. No more bills coming in. I am glad now to not have any student loan debt, but it is just something that I know inside when the subject comes up. So congrats, and I’m sure that pretty soon all those student loans will be gone, too. Impressive!
