I’ve written before about the role that karma can play in people’s lives, especially their finanacial lives. Here’s another example:
Right after I paid $1000 on my card Monday, I renewed my vow to pay even more this month. I decided to really tighten my belt as much as possible for the next few weeks. In fact, I had the opportunity yesterday to buy a DVD I want for $8, and since I’ve got $45 left for my entertainment budget this month, I easily could have done it. Instead, I decided to hold off and try to stay underbudget, intending to put that extra money towards my credit card, instead.
Meanwhile, I submitted my expense report for my last business trip last Wednesday. I have about $850 in expenses on my credit card, and when I get the check it will cover those expenses. Of course, until the check goes through, they’re on my card, which kind of stresses me out, but I try not to let it. Usually it takes about 3-4 weeks for the check to come back to me.
I got it this morning. Yup, that’s right; one week after submittal, I have the check in my hand!
Apparently, the head of HR at my company decided to put a rush on the check because it was such a large amount. Mind you, I’ve submitted expense reports for more than that where it’s taken 3-4 weeks to come back.
I don’t know why this particular time she decided to rush it through (no complaints here!), but I’ll chalk it up–at least partly–to karma being pleased with my efforts.
Haha! I believe in financial karma too…and lord do I hate waiting on travel reimbursements! I mean, it’s kind of a mixed bag because it forces you to save money, but it sucks to have a balance on your cc that’s not yours… Anyway, that’s GREAT that you got it back in record time!
Nice! Plus, you get the rewards from the charges…
